How to view Windows 11 Product or License Key

When you buy a new Windows computer, the manufacturer may have activated your copy of Windows with its license/product key. This is known as the OEM license key.

Use Command Prompt to locate Windows 11 Product Key

This method is only useful if you have an OEM version of the Windows 11 product key. In another word, if Windows 11 was pre-installed on your computer.

To view the product key of a retail Windows 11 software, you can skip to the second option.

To get started, type “cmd” onto the search bar and hit the Enter key. This opens the Command Prompt windows.

Next, type in

wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

This displays your Windows 11 OEM product key as shown below.

Find Windows 11 Product Key with ShowKeyPlus

ShowKeyPlus is a windows utility software that displays your Windows 11 product key and is mostly useful for checking the retail version of Windows 11.

To use it, launch the Microsoft Store and search for “ShowKeyPlus”. Once you installed and run the utility, it will reveal important details about your machine as shown below.

The Currently Installed key is the key being used by your version of Windows when you upgrade from a later version.

The Original Product Key is the product key from your earlier version of Windows.

Other ways you can find your product key include:
