Solved: iPhone Speaker not Working

You just discovered that your iPhone speaker isn’t bringing out sound when you play multimedia and you are worried about what the cause might be.

You are not alone in this, almost every iPhone user has experienced this at a point in time, but its severity depends on the causes of the mute.

If you can hear notification sounds but you can’t hear sound when you play music and videos, except when you use an earpiece or speaker. You have less to worry about.

But if you can’t hear notification sounds or any sound when you use an earpiece or when your phone is connected to a speaker, you may need to take your iPhone to a certified apple care center.

But before then, first, confirm that your iPhone is not muted by making sure that the mute button (the little flip that is on the upper-left side of your iPhone) is not positioned down but up. A red color should be visible if it is positioned down, this indicates your iPhone is muted and you should shift it up.

You should also confirm that your phone volume is not at the minimum by going to Settings>Sounds>Ringer and Alerts and moving the button towards the right.

The most likely cause of your iPhone speaker’s inability to work is that you have splashed water into it. This can happen if it has been exposed to water, either in the rain or while at home.

But either way, if you notice your iPhone speaker suddenly stops working. You should get a hairdryer or a standing fan and allow hair into the speaker for 15 minutes. If you are using a hairdryer, you might want to increase the hair temperature a bit higher to aid evaporation.

After the activity, your iPhone speaker should start working again.
