How to Edit videos in Android

How to Trim Videos in Android   with Built-in Gallery App

The built-in Gallery App is a great resource for Android users when it comes to trimming videos. To trim your videos and get the required footage,

Step 1: Go to the Gallery App by tapping it on your App menu.

After opening gallery, you will land at a collection of all your photos and images.    

Step 2: Proceed to select the video you want to edit. Check the example below.

After selecting the video as seen above. You will be taken to the next page where the video is playing with other options including the edit option. 

Step 3: Tap on the edit option.

After tapping the edit option, you will be taken to the edit menu (where you have two slides at the bottom left and right of the screen).

Step 4: Click and drag the slides to where you want your footage to begin an end.

Step 5: Click on “Save copy” located at the top right corner of the page.

After clicking ‘save copy”, the video will automatically start trimming.

These are the steps required to trim  videos in Android using the built-in Gallery App. 

After taking the above steps, you will have both your original video and the trimmed footage.

How to Edit Videos In Android Using Google Photos

Google Photos, unlike the built-in Gallery App, provides a wide range of video editing tools ranging from trimming, cropping, adding text, adding music, framing, effects, etc. Most Android phones come with Google photos while in some, the App has to be downloaded from Google Play Store.

Below are the steps one can take to edit videos in Android using Google photos.

Step 1: Go to Google Photos app on your device, and open it by tapping on it.

This will take you to your gallery with all your photos and videos displayed.

Step 2: Select any video that you want to edit.

Step 3: Click on the video and tap the edit icon. You will be taken to the tool menu where all the tools you need for the editing is displayed. Check the example below.

Step 4: Choose your preferred tool to effect your desired changes. In this case, Let us assume that we want to apply a filter to the video. Scroll to filter.

Step 5: Choose a particular filter you want to apply by scrolling to the desired filter. In this case, Let us assume that we want to apply Eiffel.

Tap on it and the effect will automatically be applied to the video.

Step 6: Finally, hit the save button.

Here you go with your footage saved as an edited copy of the original video.
