Your android phone usually stores bits of information about your actions and activities in various Apps and services.

This information is geared towards improving user experience and usability, and the type of information collected is largely dependent on the app used, an app might need to save pages visited and links clicked for AD recommendation, such as the Facebook app, similarly, the chrome browser saves your frequent searches to show you personalized feeds on Discover

While these caches are ordinarily harmless since they are geared towards improving user experience, over time they may become cloggy and corrupt, affecting performance, thereby making it a necessity to clear them off.

Periodically clearing your caches can help improve your phone performance.

Sometimes, you might be promoted by an app to clear your caches if having an issue performing an action.

This post teaches you how to clear cache for a single app on your android phone, and how to clear cache for all apps on your phone at a time.

How to Clear the Caches for an Android App

If you only wish to clear the cache data for an App on your android device, you can follow the steps below.

This can be necessary if you are having an issue with the performance of the app, like the app lagging or taking time to load on launch, in such cases, we recommend clearing the cache by following the steps highlighted below:

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Apps, a list of every app installed on your phone will be displayed.

Step 2: Select the App you want its cache cleared.

Note: you can clear cache for both systems default and installed apps.

Here, I will be clearing the cache data for easy unrar lite, therefore I chose it by clicking on it

Step 3: From the app information page, you will notice the storage option, click on it to continue.

Step 4: Now, locate the clear cache button to finalize your action.

Once done, the App cache will be automatically deleted and the button greyed out as shown below:

Note: This action doesn’t delete important App data, such as login details and saved activities, to do so, simply click on the clear data button, and all your activities on the App will be deleted.

How to clear the cache for all Android App at a time

Sometimes, you may experience glitches in your phone’s overall performance, pinpointing the cause of such glitches can be difficult to predict, to solve this issue, we recommend clearing your entire phone cache as a troubleshooting step.

Follow the steps highlighted below to clear your phone's cache.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone and go to storage and USB, you may need to access more settings to locate this option, else you can do a quick search from the search bar on your settings page.

From here, you can see your internal memory storage information, if you had an external memory card inserted, you need to choose the internal memory option to proceed.

Step 2: click on the rubbish clean option to proceed, a page will be opened, calculating the number of rubish stored by all the apps on your phone.

Here, you have the option to select the type of rubbish you wish to clean, I currently don’t have any cache rubbish since I regularly clear my phone cache, select the cache file and click on the “clear” button, in my case here, it is the “Easy Scan” button

How often should I clear my phone cache?

You may wish to know how often to clear your phone cache to keep your phone running smoothly.

We recommend 1 week.

However, if you find yourself clearing your phone cache often, we recommend deleting unused apps from your phone.
